Jennifer Belanger, MS RD LDN

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

An RD is a food and nutrition expert. RDs are extensively trained to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy. The education and guidance you will get from an RD is evidence based and scientifically proven via rigorous research studies. RDs have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition from an accredited university, and have passed a national exam to obtain the highly coveted RD credential. RDs must also obtain continuing education credits and maintain a professional development portfolio to stay abreast of the new research and science in the field.

Where It All Began

Jennifer didn't always know she wanted to be a Registered Dietitian. Knowing that she loved teaching and helping others, she planned on becoming a school teacher. She credits her mom for introducing her to the exciting field of nutrition when she was a junior in high school. After learning that she could make a career out of helping people achieve their health and nutritional goals, she never looked back! She loves her work as an RD and feels incredibly lucky to combine her two passions, nutrition and teaching, in her role as an RD.

Professional Background

Jennifer attended undergrad at Framingham State University. In just 4 years, she successfully completed their Coordinated Program in Dietetics; meaning that all of her coursework and supervised practice & internship experience had been completed by the time she graduated in 2013. From there, she was able to sit for the Registered Dietitian (RD) exam, and passed on the first try! She worked in the field for about 4 years before going back for her Master's Degree. In 2018 she obtained her Master's degree in Nutrition from UMASS Amherst. Jennifer's work experience is vast, ranging from hospital based dietetics, to managing the nutritional needs of the residents of a nursing home, to family and pediatric nutrition counseling. Day in and day out, she loves the fast paced and ever changing thrill of the field! To complement her expertise as an RD, Jennifer is gaining traction in the fitness field. She is a licensed ZUMBA and ZUMBA Gold instructor and enjoys teaching her enthusiastic students twice per week! Jennifer loves to cook and is working on writing a recipe book to better meet the specific needs of her patients and clients.
